The Forgotten YouTube Channel
Share
Every business has its skeletons in the closet. Mine just happens to be a YouTube channel collecting dust.
I’ll be the first to admit it—I struggle hard with being on camera. Not the kind of struggle that’s cute or quirky, but the kind that makes you want to hit “delete” on every clip you’ve ever recorded. I stumble over my words. My brain short-circuits mid-sentence. And no matter how many times I tell myself to stop, the word umm sneaks into every other breath.
Here’s the kicker: I know the material I’m talking about inside out. Skincare? Spa life? Small business struggles? That’s my world. Yet, the moment the red light on the camera turns on, it’s like my tongue forgets it has a job.
I do what most of us do when faced with something that feels impossibly uncomfortable—I avoid it. I neglect the channel. I tell myself I’ll “get back to it when I feel ready.” Except a year slips by, and suddenly, “later” has turned into way too long.
The irony? I spend half my parenting life telling my kids, “You can do hard things.” But here I am, dodging my own hard thing because it makes me feel small and silly. If I don’t face this, what kind of example am I setting?
Here we are.
The truth is, I need to get back on YouTube—not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard. Not because I suddenly found confidence overnight, but because avoiding it makes me feel like a hypocrite in front of my own children.
Do I know what material we’re going to cover? Honestly, no. That part is still up in the air. But I know the first step is to just show up. To turn the camera on. To let it be messy. To let it be me.
Stay tuned—because whether it’s facials, behind-the-scenes chaos, or the everyday ups and downs of running a small business, it’s time to revive the forgotten YouTube channel. Imperfections, awkward pauses, umms and all.
And hey—if you have ideas for what you’d actually like to see on there, I’m all ears.
Because ready or not… it’s time to do the hard thing.
