Pampered Aesthetics Opened for Services, life after the fire

With the hustle and bustle of life, blog posts are usually written and set to publish in advance. When I am creative, I’m extra creative and could write for days. Other times I sit down and force myself to write because I want to follow a consistent schedule for blog posts. This wasn’t working for me, writing is something that I love and if it wasn’t coming naturally it wasn’t something that I want to do. This method has served me well with moving. We didn’t have much notice of the move before I, in a panic, started shoving things in boxes. Past Jess was smart enough to realize that when life finally happened for us it was going to happen quickly. This meant having a few weeks of blogs already wrote, edited, and scheduled to be posted. I could hug past me in this situation. It has allowed us the time to focus on building the spa unpacking trying to create a life. If you follow along with our social media, you will have seen all the projects we have on the go now that we are back home. But the big thing was in this time we reopened our doors to services. It has been a hot minute since we have been a proper operational spa. This blog post is about that, this last week. One of my big fears with reopening was booking clients. We have been closed for so long due to the fire, but not just that before the fire we had literally just packed up and moved. From being an established spa in downtown Cobourg to having no clientele. Not only that but we most certainly are not your average spa, or your average people. AND we are located quite literally in the middle of nowhere. As is anything you set your goals too what you would like to achieve, then take it down a couple notches to what Is realistic to expect. You tell yourself you will be okay if its less than that, the entire time while knowing that you’re not exactly being honest with yourself. I have high expectations of myself, some would say too high but that is neither here nor there. We set out Canada Post Mailers trying to reach our new neighbours so that they would know we are opened again. That’s the fun thing about small business…..there are so many marketing options, but you juggle those with a small budget. It’s like yhatzi , you toss them in the cup shake it up and hope for the best. I must say I am blown away by the support from the community, the first week we hit my goal for appointment bookings. I met so many interesting individuals with so many different stories and life experiences. I will admit I was nervous at first, hoping that my social skills were up to snuff, after trauma you aren’t who you were before the bad happened to you. However, you still have the same expectations on yourself to be that person. The in my head pep talk before each and every one of you walked through the door was “don’t be weird Jess” We opened without the outside being complete, a giant construction project. This brought me much anxiety but not a single client complained or was upset by this. Which please know, thank you, I am forever grateful for that. Joining a new community is always nerve wracking, but I honestly can’t say enough for the way we have been welcomed. That we were given a chance for you to embrace our services. That we are operating again, doing the thing I love most. Every time my phone vibrates with our booking app with a new appointment, please know the children and myself do a little happy dance. Due to all of you this little dream of ours is possible. This is a family run business, these appointments keep those goblins in Muay Thai, Tanner doesn’t know yet, but it is funding our future barnyard animals fund. What’s an animal fund your might ask? Well one day he will be coming home to a couple cows and pigs that just somehow wandered onto the property, and the children and I will be just as shocked as he is that they are there. Weird, they must need a really good home!!.. Hopefully by the time they arrive I can sound a little more convincing. For this first month we move forward with open availability, in the aspect I am opened 7 days a week, we will eventually be moving to only opened 6 days a week, there’s a full time jobs worth of behind the scenes work to keep the spa operating smoothly. But thank you to each and every one of you that supported us and this dream of ours. It’s not too late to book an appointment, slots do fill up quickly. We are still accepting new clients at the moment. An extra big thank you, to those that took the time to write us a review. Your kind words mean so very much to us. This opening week made it very clear that we made the right decision to relocate, it might have been delayed but better late than never! In conclusion visit our Appointment tab and book your appointment today and we look forward to meeting you.
