Growing Up Owning a small business..
Growing up as the daughter of a small business owner has been quite the privilege . It has taught me a tonne of useful skills that make me feel smarter than most adults. It has taught me how to run a business, marketing and how to run a website. But the most important thing in my opinion is the sense of community it gave me . Now please bare with me as we choke through the next four paragraphs its been a while since I have wrote.
First thing first. Mom owning a spa has granted me a lot of opportunity to expand my knowledge on business such as learning how to talk to people. How to sell things and how to manage finances, we all know I wasn’t going to learn that from Dad, he spends like water flows. I have a great understanding of the cycle of which you get out of life, or business what you put into it. Mom has basically set me up in life so that I can be anything I want and have a strong education on the workings of operating a business and sales.
Next up we have ( my personal favourite) marketing and social media. My mom has really good marketing so we’ve been told by a lot people, recognizing us everywhere we go tells me this is probably true. I have learned so much from working with canva to create moms desired content, she’s a little bit picky with making sure everything is on brand. I learned what that meant at a fairly young age. I have quite the artistic touch thanks to my dad, so I put that towards posts for the website, Facebook, instagram, and our email marketing campaign that moms not very good at being consistent with. I can’t even put into words how thankful I am that mom has introduced me to this site, and paid for the pro membership when I whined I wanted it. I could talk forever about it but I am only halfway done this post so we better move on.
My final reason as to why I am better prepared( yes my parents have glossed my ego from a young age) because of the spa is because it has taught me what a supportive community we live in. As you all probably know our home burnt down two Xmas’ back. Maybe three by the time Mom gets around to releasing this blog. (Or dad gets it edited) It was an extremely scary occurrence for myself and our family. The amount of help and support we were granted with from our community was wild. It truly made my heart happy (and yes mom I have found it before you attempt a lame dad joke) I see the importance of always giving back, helping out, returning favours, and overall being kind and caring to everyone I encounter. Mom always preached kindness like it was gospel in our house, in a way it was and is. This is literally the only thing that matters to Mom….us being kind humans.
That wasn’t too bad my hand is starting to cramp from writing fast to try and keep up with my ideas, the struggle of us creative types as mom says, so I am going to wrap this up. Thank you to all you lovely souls who had the patience to read my blog. I hope you have a fantastic rest of your day.
Yours truly
