From Motorcycles in the Living Room to Art on the Wall: The Evolution of Mr. Pampered
When I first met Mr. Pampered, his bachelor status was loud and proud. Think motorcycles in every room, just casually parked on the floor. I mean, tell me you're a bachelor without telling me you're a bachelor. Romantic candlelit dinners? Sure, just scoot the bike over to the side. Needless to say, when he moved in, those “heathen vibes” had to go. All 12 bikes found themselves a cozy spot in the garage—where they belong, thank you very much.
Fast forward to now, and while the motorcycles are no longer house guests, their spirit has found its way back into our home. The catalyst? Our kitchen.
Our kitchen has been, let’s say, uninspiring. It’s the room I spend the most time in, yet its vibe screams, “Get in, get out, and don’t linger.” Between bare walls and the lack of warmth, it’s been hard to feel connected to the space. And, as with most things, finances have played a big role. Our maximalist decorating style often comes with price tags as unique as the pieces we source—especially when they hail from other countries.
Before the fire, our house was brimming with cool art from talented artists, including Mr. Pampered himself. He used to create incredible pieces that added so much personality and life to our home. But since the fire, his paintbrushes have been collecting dust, and it honestly breaks my heart a little.
In the kitchen, there’s one massive, blank wall that’s been haunting me. I didn’t want to clutter it with multiple pieces; I envisioned something large, bold, and impactful. But with that vision came a dreaded reality: the price tag. I was already bracing myself for the conversation where I’d have to justify spending that much to Mr. Pampered.
Enter Tanner, my not-so-secret weapon of resourcefulness, with a genius idea of his own: motorcycle art. Not the “parked on the floor” kind (we’ve been there), but a shell of a motorcycle frame, cut in half, painted beautifully, and mounted on the wall.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: motorcycle art in the kitchen? Isn’t that, well, a little much? But here’s the thing about Tanner—he has an uncanny ability to take seemingly random ideas and turn them into high-end, classy creations. This isn’t just some DIY experiment; it’s a statement piece that will blend function, form, and a touch of our quirky personalities.
Tanner has set off to work crafting this masterpiece, and I couldn’t be more excited to see it come to life. His ability to bring a vision together on a budget is nothing short of magic, and I can’t wait to watch this blank wall become the heart of our kitchen.
This project isn’t just about decorating; it’s about bringing life back into our home in a way that feels us. It’s about reclaiming creativity and making a space that inspires. As much as I miss the days when Mr. Pampered painted his own art, I’m thrilled to see him channel his talent into something new and meaningful.
